Symptoms

A user that is not a member of the local administrators group cannot edit Event Actions definitions.

More information

Event Actions runs with local administrative privileges and can perform anything on the local server. Because of this only members of the administrators group can configure Event Actions. This can be seen as administering a service in Windows - a task that only very highly privileged user should be able to do. However, in Content Studio 4.5 build 1012 an administrator can delegate the right to create, edit and delete Event Action definitions to other users and groups. This is done by a new security descriptor assigned to each category and each Event Actions item. The permission can be delegated on category or item level only an is not inherited to sub categories. The owner of this security descriptor is ADMINISTRATORS and this ownership cannot be transferred. The interface for controlling this permissions can be found in the Event Actions dialog that can be displayed from the category properties dialog.
